View More JetBlue Airways News Tags :US, JetBlue Airways JetBlue Airways and their “Low-Fare Sommelier” Joshua Wesson, co-founder of Best Cellars Inc., have chosen Indaba Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot as the latest selection of pours for the low-cost carrier's in-flight wine program. Beginning January 1, 2011 Sauvignon Blanc 2010 and Merlot 2010 from Indaba, among the largest South African wine brands in the US, will be available for purchase. The placement makes Indaba the first wine label from South Africa to be offered onboard the US airline. Joshua Wesson, in coordination with a committee of stakeholders at JetBlue, handpicks wines that offer JetBlue customers first-class bottlings at affordable prices, and are synonymous with the airline’s identity as hip and innovative. “In selecting Indaba’s Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot as the next pair of pours to wing skyward on JetBlue, I’ve plucked the pick of their “liters,” two mouthwatering wines that will instantly appeal to anyone who opens wide and says ‘ahh,’” said Wesson. "(Indaba) is widely respected for bottlings that deliciously bridge the gap between cheap and cheerful.” Wesson's Indaba tasting notes will be provided with both selections onboard, and are as follows: Indaba Sauvignon Blanc 2010 “The lip-smacking, mango and grapefruit-scented South African Sauvignon Blanc that tastes insanely delicious! Hailing from the hills east of Cape Town, Indaba's tropically-tinged white wine promises to get heads happily bobbing in agreement, ‘another bottle, please!’” Indaba Merlot 2010 “The enticing, black cherry and mocha-scented South African Merlot that tastes crazy good! Hailing from the hills east of Cape Town, Indaba's velvety red wine promises to get heads happily bobbing in agreement, ‘another bottle, please!’” “We are both excited and honored to bring JetBlue passengers two wines that offer tremendous value, irresistible taste, and exude an essence of South Africa,” said Andre Shearer, CEO of Cape Classics which produces the Indaba wine range. “Indaba is the Zulu word for “a meeting of the minds,” and most commonly represents sharing. We are looking forward to sharing these South African gems onboard JetBlue in the New Year.” Both wines will be bottled in recyclable, 187ml burgundy shaped, PET bottles with identical labels to that of the original glass packaging. The selections will be available through June 2011. | |
