Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) on Monday will launch hourly Delta Shuttle service with 11 weekday flights between New York-LaGuardia and Chicago-O'Hare International airports.

To mark Delta's continued growth in the New York market, the airline is offering SkyMiles members triple flown miles and triple Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) on all Delta Shuttle flights connecting LaGuardia to Boston-Logan, Washington-Reagan National and Chicago-O'Hare airports between June 14 and Aug. 31, 2010.

"As a thank you to the many SkyMiles members who regularly use Delta Shuttle's services to and from New York, we are celebrating the newest Shuttle route by not only offering triple flown miles toward future award travel, but also triple qualifying miles toward SkyMiles Medallion status," said Jeff Robertson, Delta's vice president – SkyMiles. "Adding Chicago-O'Hare to the Delta Shuttle network is part of our ongoing commitment to expand service for our most frequent travelers between New York and the country's top business markets."

During the past four years, Delta has added 40 new destinations from LaGuardia and JFK combined, expanded BusinessElite service to transcontinental flights from JFK to Los Angeles and San Francisco and reintroduced "Red Coats" as customer service ambassadors at LaGuardia and JFK.

With the addition of Chicago-O'Hare, Delta will be the only airline offering shuttle services to New York's top three business markets: Chicago, Boston and Washington, D.C.

Delta Shuttle customers enjoy dedicated self-service check-in kiosks, assigned seating, two classes of service with complimentary upgrades for Medallion members when available, a minimum of 500 SkyMiles for all Shuttle flights, and complimentary beverages and newspapers in the gate area. Onboard, Delta Shuttle also offers enhanced in-flight service including meals in First Class, bagels in Economy on departures before 10 a.m. and complimentary wine and Sam Adams beer.

Flights schedules for the new Chicago-New York shuttle are available online at http://news.delta.com/index.php?s=18&item=130.

Members must register for this promotion at delta.com/shuttlepromo. This bonus is in addition to the minimum 500 SkyMiles earned for each Shuttle flight traveled. SkyMiles members traveling between Chicago and New York can earn nearly 4,400 miles round trip while customers traveling on Delta Shuttle's New York-Boston and New York-Washington, D.C. routes can earn 3,000 miles for each round trip. More information and complete terms and conditions are available at delta.com/shuttlepromo.

SkyMiles members who earn at least 25,000 MQMs in one calendar year qualify for SkyMiles Medallion status, which provides exclusive benefits such as complimentary upgrades, priority boarding, mileage bonuses and preferred seating.

Delta offers more ways to redeem frequent flyer miles than any other airline – including airline tickets, mileage upgrades, car rentals, hotel stays, Delta Sky Club memberships, merchandise and more than 30 types of gift cards. In 2009, 8.5 percent of revenue miles flown on Delta were for award travel, among the best of U.S. network airlines according to data filed in airlines' 10-K annual reports. During the same period, frequent flyers redeemed more than 230 billion miles in the SkyMiles program for more than 11 million award redemptions. Now in its 28th year, SkyMiles is one of the travel industry's longest-running and most successful loyalty programs. It was named "Best Domestic Frequent Flyer program" for 2007 through 2009 by readers of Executive Traveler magazine and "Best Frequent Flyer Program" for 2006 through 2009 by Business Traveler magazine. Delta's SkyMiles program offers members multiple mileage-earning opportunities when flying Delta, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection carriers, Delta AirElite and other SkyTeam airlines. Additional mileage-building opportunities are offered through more than 140 worldwide partners such as the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express and the Delta SkyMiles Check Card.
